Morning all

Just a quick post to mention a couple of things happening this week. Firstly a small piece of writing I made to accompany Mick Welbourn's recent show is being hosted by the wonderful Foolscap Journal, a weekly online writing journal edited by Michael Lawton, here:

Have a read and then i suggest going back through the archive and reading the other posts. There are some real treats.

Secondly i will have a few pieces of work in Ishihara 15 this sunday at the Queen of Hoxton. Here's all the information you could possibly need:

Minor Domestic Interventions

Hello all,

Next show at 38b opens on Thursday. This will be the last show for a bit, maybe until end of April or beginning of May so get your fill of 38b while you can. Here's all the info you could possibly need about the show.

38b Peckham Rye presents:

Minor Domestic Interventions

Thursday 24th February - Sunday 6th March
...
An exhibition of interruptions and interventions by Edward Cotterill, Noel Hensey and Leo Koivistoinen

It's not strange to have visitors looking at art in your flat, we put it there for others to see/to be in awe of, to highlight our particular tastes and to allow others to understand us without the need to explain ourselves. However, if the boundaries between the art and our more banal belongings are made unclear then how are our visitors able to construct any sense of meaning from what they are seeing?

The exhibition Minor Domestic Interventions endeavors to draw more focus to the place itself, the essence of which is unmistakably domestic, a place where you do not only see white walls or feel the coldness of an empty warehouse but a place where someone has accumulated objects in their nest, perhaps quite similar to your own.

By revising our relationship to our immediate environment, such as the relationship a displaced showerhead has to religious belief, a doorbell’s connotation in times of global networking or simply moving an object from one part of a house to another, all can have far reaching implications. What this art does in this case is to challenge the ‘normal’ domestic order of flat 38b Peckham Rye.

Bless this house.

February, i shall smite you!

Where did January go? I remember it threatening to rear its ugly grey head but then it was gone, leaving its even more depressing and slovenly sibling February behind to keep us company. But I will not let February beat me for many riches lie ahead.

First I am very pleased to say I will be off to Austin, TX for SXSW again this year, thanks to the generous support of UKTI and help from the ever-wonderful folks at British Underground. I'll be taking over a bunch of other UK poster types but more about that next week, including information about the rather splendid magazine we will be giving away out there called Flood.

Second, I’ve just about been managing to find the time to make some new work. So here for your eyes are a few new pieces from the studio, some of which will hopefully make it into some shows in the near future. Enjoy...or don't...up to you really:
