An exhibition of interruptions and interventions by Edward Cotterill, Noel Hensey and Leo KoivistoinenIt's not strange to have visitors looking at art in your flat, we put it there for others to see/to be in awe of, to highlight our particular tastes and to allow others to understand us without the need to explain ourselves. However, if the boundaries between the art and our more banal belongings are made unclear then how are our visitors able to construct any sense of meaning from what they are seeing? The exhibition Minor Domestic Interventions endeavors to draw more focus to the place itself, the essence of which is unmistakably domestic, a place where you do not only see white walls or feel the coldness of an empty warehouse but a place where someone has accumulated objects in their nest, perhaps quite similar to your own. By revising our relationship to our immediate environment, such as the relationship a displaced showerhead has to religious belief, a doorbell’s connotation in times of global networking or simply moving an object from one part of a house to another, all can have far reaching implications. What this art does in this case is to challenge the ‘normal’ domestic order of flat 38b Peckham Rye.Bless this house. At 38b Peckham Rye, Peckham, London, SE15 4JR
